Beskrivelse af jobtilbuddet for Videnskabelig assistent, naturvidenskab og teknik
The Department of Biology at SDU invites applications for a position as research assistant in the research team associated to the ERC Synergy project RECLESS. The position is available for two years from the 1st of September 2025 with possibility of extension.
RECLESS aims to predict how ongoing ocean deoxygenation impacts microbial nitrogen transformations and thereby the future availability of nitrogen to support oceanic primary production and carbon sequestration. The project involves researchers from the universities of Southern Denmark, Gothenburg, and Vienna, as well as Carnegie Science, and synergistically integrates innovative oceanographic, biogeochemical, ecophysiological, and model-based investigations.
The primary task of the research assistant will be to support a key component of RECLESS: The development, testing, and deployment of in situ instrumentation for high sensitivity oxygen measurements and microbial ecological experiments. Specific tasks include
- pressure and temperature compensation of optical oxygen sensors,
- establishment of protocols for sensor calibration,
- mechanical tests of in situ experimental platforms,
- data management,
- organization of shipping and logistics for fieldwork,
- participation in fieldwork at sea, including longer research cruises.
We seek a candidate with a M.Sc. degree in biology, environmental sciences or engineering, experience with experimental work, scientific programming skills as well as good organizational, planning, and communication skills, and an aptitude for fieldwork.
