BRIGHT is a new research center at DTU. At BRIGHT we create novel methods and technologies as a foundation for development of new environmentally friendly products, better and less energy consuming manufacturing processes, development of sustainable novel food ingredients, climate friendly farming, etc. In other words, we try to solve some of the biggest challenges in the history of mankind, and you will get the chance to contribute to this.
External communications
Overall, your primary responsibilities will be:

Proactively look for the good stories in the organization among management, scientists, spinouts etc. to communicate them externally

Conduct proactive press work (nationally and internationally): strategy, content and scientist engagement.

Manage SoMe (LinkedIn, possibly X): strategy, content plans, scientist engagement
-
Conduct media training for scientists (press & LinkedIn), including photo support
-
Identify and support external communication activities of thought leaders at the Center
-
Develop and maintain website
-
Maintain corporate slide deck and support management in audience-specific alterations
-
Support outreach projects (e.g. partnerships)

Manage external visibility (at bio networks and events) in cooperation with management and the team leader
-
Organize the center’s presence at international events in cooperation with relevant external networks and centers

Ad hoc communication projects
Experience with communication in an international environment
You will be operating in an international environment with a complex stakeholder landscape and top scientists from all over the world. You will need a good organizational understanding to know whom to reach out to in different situations and a good cultural understanding as we pride ourselves of embracing diversity.
We are about to launch our new BRIGHT research strategy under a new Center leadership. Your communication tasks will develop in accordance with how the leadership implement the research strategy and form the new organization. You will be a part of the Center’s executive operations lead by the Executive Center Director, whom you will be interacting closely with during the execution of your tasks. You will be part of the communication team, counting in addition to yourself, a communication team leader and an internal communication specialist.
Overall, we are looking for the following in a candidate:

Master’s degree in communication, ideally with specialization in media relations, or something similar

Documented media relations expertise: understanding press work, pitching stories, building journalist relationships

Experience in conducting media training/media advice and supporting thought leaders

Experience with SoMe, especially LinkedIn and X, documenting an ability to create a content strategy and create content that fosters engagement and community

Ability to translate complex science into engaging narratives

Ability and interest in being visible at the workplace and building relationships with scientists and external stakeholders

High-level English skills (in writing and speaking)

Interested in and curious about bioscience

Organizing skills, good overview, ability to prioritize and meet deadlines

An open-minded, proactive and cooperative approach

The Novo Nordisk Foundation Biotechnology Research Institute for the Green Transition (BRIGHT)
Recent progress in our ability to read and write genomic code, combined with advances in automation, analytics and data science, has fundamentally changed the scope and ambition of harnessing the potential of biological systems. BRIGHT is based at DTU (Technical University of Denmark) and will serve as a science innovation hub for developing efficient biomanufacturing technologies, focusing on three primary mission areas: sustainable materials, microbial foods, and microorganisms for net-zero agriculture. The aim of BRIGHT is to provide scalable, bio-based alternatives to fossil-derived products, supporting global efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
