Who are we?

  • We conduct research focusing on digital and technological health solutions in an interdisciplinary interaction between the biomedical and the engineering sciences. Clinicians and researchers from various professional backgrounds collaborate to develop, implement, and apply research-based knowledge.   • We aim to create societal value through research that addresses concrete healthcare challenges and positioning the Faculty of Medicine as a frontrunner in the use of data, technology, and new methodologies.

The faculty comprises two departments:

  • Department of Health Science and Technology, focusing on biomedical sciences, health technology, digital health, and interdisciplinary research (www.hst.aau.dk)
  • Department of Clinical Medicine, focusing on clinical research within 39 different specialties, clinical data science, biomedical science, and health services research (www.klinisk.aau.dk)

Each department is organized in a number of research groups, and the proposed research project should fit within one of these. The successful candidates will be employed in the relevant department. You will become part of a research group that concentrates on a specific field within the broader research areas of medicine, health science and technology.

What are our expectations?

  • Conduct the studies necessary to answer the research questions of your project.
  • Write up research results in the form of journal articles.
  • Participate in and co-arrange national and international research conferences and be exposed to external research environments, for example, as a visiting researcher.
  • Contribute to the teaching obligations of the research group.
  • Supervise undergraduate students and PhD students.
  • Disseminate the results of your research to the public.
  • Secure own funding, ie grants for specific project leadership tasks.
  • Participate in the day-to-day life of the research group (e.g., research meetings, seminars, social activities) and participate in relevant research activities and interdisciplinary interactions at department or university level.
  • Develop a solid background in your research area that will allow you to foster a curious and critical sense to analyse and interpret scientific information.
  • Further develop competences towards an academic or industrial research career.

Who are you?

Qualification requirements 

  • A motivated text wherein the reasons for applying and qualifications in relation to the position, and intentions and visions for the position are stated (max. 500 words).
  • A project proposal for a novel and ambitious 3-year research project aligned with the faculty’s research profile and fitting into one of the faculty’s research groups. You should state which research group or center you would like to join (max. 1,000 words).
  • A current curriculum vitae (e.g. using the EU model), clearly stating your educational background, experience, techniques, language skills and other skills or experiences relevant for this position.
  • Diplomas (MSc/MA/MD and PhD).
  • List of publications, with an indication of the attached publications that you wish to be taken into account in the assessment. You may attach a maximum of five publications.
  • Documentation of teaching qualifications if relevant.
  • Dissemination qualifications, including participation on committees or boards, participation in organisations etc.
  • Additional qualifications in relation to the position (e.g., clinical experience).

Salary and terms of employment  

Salary and terms of employment are in accordance with the collective agreement between the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations and the state (AC collective agreement) (only in Danish) and protocol on certain terms of employment of academic staff at universities (only in Danish).

There is a mutual probationary period of 3 months for the position.
