The Department of Clinical Epidemiology (Department of Clinical Medicine) at the Faculty of Health at Aarhus University invites applications for 1-3 positions as a Research Assistant within register-based epidemiology in neurology, gastroenterology, or  pharmacology ,

with an expected

start  date of the 1st of April, or as soon as possible thereafter. The position is a 12-month full-time position.

Department of Clinical Medicine

The Department of Clinical Epidemiology is a research department at Aarhus University Hospital, within the Department of Clinical Medicine at Aarhus University. Researchers in the department use advanced epidemiological methods to study different topics related to health research. The department is engaged in a variety of activities regarding epidemiological research, including mental health research. Furthermore, the department is involved in counselling health care professionals to improve the quality of health care and treatment. A large number of projects in the department are carried out in cooperation with Danish and international collaborators. More information on Department of Clinical Epidemiology here

Your job responsibilities

As a research assistant, your primary tasks will be within one of the areas outlined below. You will contribute to the development of the department’s field through teaching and research of high international quality. In your daily work, you will interact closely with skilled colleagues. This also includes tasks within contract research.

Your tasks will mainly consist of:

  • Working on projects related to neurological or gastroenterological disorders, or within pharmacoepidemiology, with the aim of developing a PhD protocol.
  • Research may also include other specific topics, as agreed upon with the department’s Chair/Professor.

You will report to Professor Henrik Toft Sørensen

Your qualifications

  • You are a qualified medical doctor with a relevant education and clinical experience, or you hold a master degree in a relevant are and have some academic  experience academic discipline.
  • You demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, are approachable, and actively contribute to a positive and collaborative working environment.

Formal requirements

The position is initially available as a Research Assistant for a 12-month period. Enrolment as a PhD student for an additional 3 years will be agreed upon between the candidate and the main supervisor (Henrik Toft Sørensen). Additionally, note that it is a prerequisite that the PhD candidate is enrolled as a PhD student at Aarhus University Graduate School of Health (http://phd.health.au.dk/) in a separate procedure before starting as a PhD student. The successful candidate will work on that together with the main supervisor.
