Beskrivelse af jobtilbuddet for Lektor, naturvidenskab og teknik
At the Faculty of Engineering and Science, Department of the Built Environment (BUILD), Division for Building Technology, Management and Indoor Environment, at Aalborg University’s campus in Copenhagen, one or more positions as Assistant or Associate professor in low carbon constructions are open for appointment from August 1st, 2026, or soon hereafter.
Your work tasks
To meet an increasing need for research and dissemination within the field of low carbon constructions, BUILD is looking for one or more Assistant or Associate professors with expertise within building physics and/or structural engineering, with special competences within hygrothermal performance of building envelopes and/or building design.
Climate change, new materials, the desire for more sustainable construction, reduction of energy consumption and demand for high productivity and efficiency challenge the construction industry. Danish building practice is changing and there is an urgent need for research within modern wood-based and other low carbon constructions. The building sector needs updated knowledge and experience within the area and future candidates that can design wood-based and other low carbon constructions with respect to both safety, durability and sustainability.
The position(s) is open at the Department of the Built Environment, Division for Building Technology, Management and Indoor Environment, Research Group for Building Physics, which carries out research in these main areas, often in relation to building envelopes:
- Use of bio-based materials in construction
- Retrofitting of existing buildings
- Service life and durability of buildings and building components
- Climate change and future building practices
- Robust solutions, reuse and recycling
- Load bearing capacity of structures
The position(s) includes research and teaching, including supervision of master and PhD students. Further, it includes dissemination, government consultancy, and cooperation with the building industry as well as development of research proposals for accessing national and international funding.
The topics in this position may include but are not limited to:
- Heat and mass transfer in building materials, constructions and buildings
- Structural design and risk assessment
- Refurbishment solutions of structures in the existing building stock
- Hygrothermal and structural performance of building envelopes
- Development of methods for testing and documentation of the performance
- Robust, optimized and buildable structural details and joints
- Innovation of sustainable solutions for future building constructions
Your Competencies
Aalborg University is looking for motivated candidates with strong research background in hygrothermal performance of low carbon building materials and/or structural design of low carbon constructions. The right candidate holds a PhD degree in structural engineering or building physics, has some years of postdoctoral research experience, is theoretically well-founded and has strong analytical skills for transforming new knowledge, has strong communication skills both in Danish and English, and has experience with experimental research activities, e.g. laboratory or field studies.
It is an advantage if the candidate has experience in statistical analysis and data management, proposal writing for Danish and/or international funding programs, project management, and cooperation with the building sector.
The candidate will contribute to AAU activities within low carbon constructions and therefore experience from teaching and supervision of students is an advantage. The candidate should have the ability to work in a team as well as independently and be good at networking.
