The position

As our Compliance Officer, you will play a key role in safeguarding and continue developing BWSC’s compliance framework across the business. You will act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership and employees, combining strong business understanding with solid compliance expertise – covering everything from third-party due diligence to policies, training, audits and reporting.

You will report to the CPO and for an interim period, our General Counsel. You will collaborate closely with stakeholders across functions and geographies. Below are listed some of the primary tasks and responsibilities:

  • Drive and conduct third-party and project due diligence/screening for suppliers, customers and projects, including risk assessments, documentation and recommended mitigations. 
  • Operate, maintain and develop compliance policies and related procedures/guidelines (e.g., Code of Conduct, Export Control, Sanctions, Gifts & Hospitality, Conflicts of Interest). 
  • Design and deliver compliance training and awareness (including onboarding and refresher training) and support implementation across the organization. 
  • Own, manage and promote awareness of the whistleblower line, including handling, investigating and follow-up and report in accordance with legal internal procedures and applicable requirements. 
  • Participate in and support audit readiness (internal/external), including evidence, documentation and follow-up on findings and corrective actions. 
  • Provide regular reporting to management and the parent company, including preparation of materials and participation in governance forums such as the Audit, Risk & Compliance Committee. 
  • Act as an ongoing advisor and sparring partner to C-level and senior leaders on compliance matters, risks and trends, confidently challenging decisions and ways of working when needed.

 

Qualifications

  • Relevant higher education within law, business, finance, governance/compliance or similar. 
  • Extensive experience in compliance with ownership of both operational execution and tactical/strategic development of a compliance setup. 
  • Strong experience with third-party due diligence and screening (suppliers/customers/projects), including risk classification and mitigation planning.
  • Proven ability to develop and maintain compliance policies and translate requirements into practical, business-oriented guidance.
  • Experience with training/awareness and driving behavioral change across stakeholders.
  • Experience within financial compliance and controls (e.g., internal controls or financial risk areas) is a strong advantage. 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English. 
  • Able to work independently, structured and detail-oriented, ensuring audit-ready documentation. 
  • Strong stakeholder management skills; comfortable advising and sparring with senior management/C-level executives.
